Massara Hospital Al Masara Hospital is the only reference hospital in the Sultanate that provides tertiary mental health care with a capacity of 245 beds, where psychological treatment is divided into four categories, which are general mental illness, elderly mental illness, child and adolescent psychiatry and criminal psychiatry. The hospital also provides treatment for drug and alcohol addiction patients. In addition, the hospital provides psychology, social service, and rehabilitation services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. The hospital is considered one of the giant projects implemented by the Ministry of Health within the five-year plan 2006-2010 AD, and the building was designed on the latest international models to meet all the specialized psychological needs of patients. The hospital’s capacity The hospital contains 245 beds distributed into 10 admission departments as follows: 6 departments for men, two for women, one section for children and adolescents, and one forensic psychiatry department. Hospital halls The hospital contains 7 rooms dedicated to holding workshops and conferences, in addition to meeting rooms, which are 3 rooms. Al-Razi hall is the largest of the hospital halls with a capacity of 400 people, followed by Al-Khwarizmi hall with a capacity of 160 people. Recreational activities center The hospital contains a number of outdoor and indoor playgrounds in addition to a swimming pool for the use of patients and staff. Day care center The hospital’s day care center contains a number of workshops that serve patients, such as pottery workshop, carpentry workshop, blacksmith workshop, handicraft workshop, home activities, and a computer lab.
