We are a musical elementary school in the neighborhood. The school has been a musical elementary school since the 2016/17 school year . This means that we strive to integrate more music from more participants into our school life for more opportunities. In addition, various musical performances, the house music evening that always takes place in November, and theater performances in a wide variety of forms - from role-playing to musical revues - are an important part of our school life. Our school is a place of learning where we explore the world curiously learn together and work independently. For us, learning also means being able to develop questions about topics and then receiving offers in class so that we can answer these questions independently or in a team researching. Reading promotion is very important to us. This is supported by our own school library, which has been run voluntarily for many years by a former librarian, and by reading sponsorships. In addition, the book bus enablesstudents to conveniently borrow books every Tuesday. The " bookworms " are guests in our rooms every week and we regularly organize a day of reading aloud in the early school years . The start of school is organized in year-specific classes. Through our sponsorship classes , school beginners in the first year of school are accompanied and supported by pupils in the second grade. Joint mixed-year projects are regularly carried out between the two years. In the 5th and 6th grades, the students choose their favorites from several courses , for example producing a school newspaper, researching and experimenting, working with clay and sculptures or studying a revue. A large number of working groups with changing topics also represent an additional educational offer. Our school is a place where we can relate treat us with respect and trust, Resolve conflicts non-violently, act in a team-oriented manner and Live democracy. It is our goal to convey tolerance, respect, appreciation and democratic understanding to the students. Teaching projects for non-violent conflict resolution , the institutionalization of the class council from grade 3 onwards, the training of conflict controllers and the regular student parliament are the pillars of this approach. The school-related mediation based on the Bensberg model complements the educational concept of the school. Our school is a place where we live Maintain friendships, celebrate parties together, make music with joy and get involved in sports. Our school is a neighborhood school, which is characterized by a particularly good school climate, in which teachers, educators, pupils and parents feel comfortable and which is designed together by everyone. The sponsoring association supports the school with great commitment in terms of personnel and finances. Without him, the summer court festivals and the traditional Christmas market , which are the highlights of the school year, would be inconceivable. School trips and various excursions mean an eventful high point of the elementary school days. The provision of sports - and play material during the long breaks - organized by the pupils of the school - are enjoyed by the children. In district and national sports competitions , the students repeatedly achieve outstanding achievements. Every student can have a warm lunch in the cafeteria . The care of the children before (6:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.) and after class (1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.) takes place in the school buildings. The school house on Murtener Straße is maintained by the Mittelhof neighborhood house and has a cooperation with the school. The educators not only design the accompaniment of meals and thus bring their projects into school life, but also provide support in the classroom.
