The driving behavior and safety of your motorcycle depend to a large extent on the condition of the tires. It is therefore not surprising when DEKRA finds that half of all motorcycles involved in accidents have tire defects. Regular tire service for motorcycles by a specialist provides security. Defects that can be proven to lead to accidents are insufficient air pressure and insufficient tread depth. Heavily aged tires, ozone cracks and imbalances caused by so-called brake and motorway flats have been shown to harbor risks. Ideally, you should check the air pressure every two weeks, at least before every major trip. Here, 0.2 bar more pressure is better than too little. Please note whether you are traveling with a passenger and / or bag and pack. When it comes to tire service, we give you recommendations for your type of motorcycle. In addition to the air pressure, the tread depth is of great importance for optimal adhesion properties. The legislator prescribes 1.6 mm. However, we advise you to replace the tires at 2 mm at the latest. Tires often have so-called TWIs (tread wear indicators). Here, small ridges in the base of the profile show the remaining depth of the profile. If you do need new motorcycle tires, we will be happy to organize them for you and balance and mount the new ones. You can and should check the air pressure and tread depth yourself.
